Benchmark indices consolidate today after the big move of yesterday as profit booking and weak global cues kept the market’s upside movement limited. Nifty, however, was able to close above the mark of 8900 but with selling business. Nifty closed the session today at 8917.95 i.e. 25 points lower.
BHEL, Bank of Baroda, ONGC and SBIN were the top gainer of the day while Yes Bank, Asian Paints, Gail and TECHM were the top losers of the day.
Global Markets Update:
- World stocks hit their highest in more than a year and the dollar fell sharply against the yen on Wednesday as expectations of a rise in Federal Reserve interest rates receded after weak U.S. economic data.
- European shares remained just off an 8 month high supported by a rise in Weir Group and well-received company results which helped to counteract weak data out of Germany.
